If I was there, I'd be thumping the table in Canberra and saying, listen, listen, if you've got $600 million for Papua New Guinea sport, how about some serious dollars for our own Indigenous AFL program?
You know, because that money, that money could do so much work to help build our communities and help in Indigenous communities from right across our great country.
And like the academies, you know...
We could build tremendous Indigenous academies across Australia with $10 million a year.
$300,000 doesn't even touch the sides.
And again, so there's no money.
Well, the federal government managed to find $600 million for Papua New Guinea.
How about finding $600 million or $60 million or even $6 million a year for our own Indigenous players?
Right across our country.
It doesn't matter whether you're talking Port Hedland, you're talking Perth, you're talking Brisbane, you're talking Cairns, you're talking in Hobart.
We have a real need to get Indigenous players back into our sport big time, not just the odd player here and there, big time.
We love watching them.
They're great footballers, outstanding athletes.
We should be doing everything we can to encourage their participation because it brings in communities.
It brings in families.
It gives people purpose.
That's the whole idea.
That's one reason why I get so amped up about sport and why it's so great.
And what are we doing here?
300 grand?
