Yeah, look, I suppose, first of all, David, thank you very much for having me on the show and good morning to your listeners.
This piece of work, which is the national planning statement around rural housing, is the first time since 2005 that we've done a serious amount of work on this.
What it does is it brings clarity to the planning guidelines that were there that were left to interpretation by different county councils.
And in fact, in some cases, you might have had a development that would be allowed in one county and a neighbouring county it wasn't developed.
So it's to put clarity around that.
It's not going to be everybody going out there and building houses.
It's to allow people that are from the area to come back into the area.
to be able to build homes, to raise a family.
Yeah, absolutely.
But there is a social cost to everything that we do within the rural and in cities.
And these are things that I would deal with on a constant basis with people coming into my constituency office that have issues around planning and getting planning in their local area where they're brought up.
where they want to now raise their own family and bring them up in that area.
And it's also done in such a way that it's actually protecting... But you accept that there is going to be a cost in terms of service to those... There's a cost attached to everything that you do with regards to housing, David, whether that's within infrastructure, roads, schools, everywhere you put housing that you have to.
And that's very, very true.
But the technology that was used previously for septic tanks, all the newer homes that are being built have way more sustainable, way more environmentally friendly septic tanks.
And all of these new houses will have the newer form of septic tank, which will be, as I say, it will be cleaner for the environment.
Just to come back in there really, really quick.
And Louise is correct.
These are draft plans at the moment and they will have to go for environmental screening.
And during that time, there will be a public consultation piece and that will allow people to come in with submissions, sensible submissions.
