So it's his Danish friend, I think, who doesn't say funnel properly.
Funnel, as we would say, but says something like funeral, someone like that, who knows, attributed to a Danish friend who mangles the word.
and then the drink was her funnel, but of course the joke is it was her funeral.
You get it?
So this is an example of his wordplay.
A goiter.
Okay, so he's talking about, and this is the kind of,
misdirection that we're talking about with these um stage magic and things like that so yeah there's no water in the radiator she talks about putting snow in he thinks you mustn't do that it comes up with the idea why you mustn't do it is a goiter so an enlargement of the neck caused by lack of iodine i had a teacher when i was my maths teacher when i was young had a goiter you never see them now
And the folk belief was that if you drink snowmelt water, which doesn't have any iodine, you will get goiters.
So he's misassociated.
He does this a bit later on as well.
So seized right up just means it's welded itself to solid.
That's a fairly common phrase even.
So the hospitality of my poor roof.
And then he adds something, you know, my poor roof is just like, you know, you might say, oh, come under my poor roof.
And it's not true.
It's just a self-deprecating way of not making yourself sound too big.
Because that's a really big thing in British culture is not to boast.
