I just feel like I am the special occasion.

Yeah.

You know, and I like to feel comfortable, but I like to feel beautiful.

Sometimes my clothes make me feel powerful.

You know, clothing started as an armor for me, a way that I was kind of...

I didn't know it at the time, but I was defending myself against sexism, racism, and all of the things, misogynoir, like the whole thing.

But I didn't know that that's what was coming at me.

I took it personally.

And I think some of it is because I come from money.

I come from fame.

And just all, you know, like there are all those things that sort of were protecting me from a lot of the sexism, racism and all of those things.

But still out in the world, I was just a black girl.

And so clothing was one of the ways that I felt that I could kind of present to the world that I mattered.

And it has become a form of creative expression for me that is how I wear my insides on the outside and how I tell myself I matter.

And it's just a way that I honor myself and listen to my inner voice and what makes my, I mean in the morning it's so funny, I go into my closet and it's sort of like, I'm gonna start with pants.

I'm like, no, no, today it's all about the shoes.

You know, and something forms out of that.
