I think Borman is going for bigger game than that.
that Borman and Dickey together are trying to talk about bigger things than just the suspense story, but rather –
masculinity and myth, right?
They're getting into all of that mythic stuff.
And there's a shot in that movie where John Voight, after what's happened on the river, and he's reentering civilization, and he's going into this dinner, this extraordinary dinner,
played with some, clearly some non-actors and Ned Beatty around a table.
And it seems to me like Voight passes through like three different screens to get from outside to inside, to re-enter into civilized society.
It's like the shot is set up in a way that you keep seeing him walking through these screen doors.
It's remarkable.
