Probably still one of my favorite instrumentals.

Man, how many verses I wrote to that instrumental?

So anyway, so J. Rue had this song called Can't Stop the Prophet.

And I just grabbed the mic and started spitting Can't Stop the Prophet.

And...

the room just was like everybody you know like it's high school kids getting fucked up and all of a sudden the energy is shifted to what was going on and i was like and i felt it and i was like oh uh i think i got a couple other ones i could do you know so they they just kept rocking i think we did three or four jams and then after the after the party um

i talked to matt and milo um who was the original first guitarist in gym class i was like yeah we should we should get together and see if we could you know like make some of our own music and i had known milo and his brother max uh for since i was four or five years old um i they lived

We lived in a half a house, and there was a fence, and they lived on the other side of the fence, but they had a tree house.

So whenever they would leave, I would jump in their tree house and commandeer it like it was my shit.

And then one time I got caught, and I was like, you wanna be friends?

And they're like, yeah.

I'm like, cool.

That's how we became friends.

And then years later, we started a band with Matt.

A couple weeks later, we got together in Milo's basement and just started jamming, man.

You know what?

I think what got us signed was the fact that no one

could put a finger on what it was we were doing.

So I think us not really painting ourselves into a corner helped us, in a sense, until it didn't.

So fast forward a few years later, when we signed to Fueled by Ramen, which was the first label we signed to, an independent label out of Florida, that got bought by Atlantic, which is how we got upstreamed.
