I remember its gleaming emeralds positioned to appear as the little creature's shell.
And the surrounding ring of smaller diamonds.
So white and clean, they seem to vanish beneath my eyes.

The beautiful thing appeared so much like a sparkling bit of candy.
I was desperate to eat it for its infinite sweetness.
Yet ingestion was only the most primitive and obvious way for me to get closer to the dazzling reality that lived within the brooch.
Teasing and exhilaration found nowhere besides.
