And the British deployed what they called their British Expeditionary Force.
I'll call them the BEF.
which was comprised of a small British army.
And in total, it had six infantry divisions.
And in this battle, they had one of their total five cavalry brigades.
The BEF also had a very small army.
So to give you an idea, estimates range, but let's just average it out to about 80,000 people on the BEF.
Whereas the German Empire itself, as well as the French,
Both huge armies, both each numbering near a million troops.
Right.
So we'll talk about this battle in particular.
I don't think all of the troops are all coming out all at once.
Right, yeah.
But suffice to say, we have insurmountable odds for sure.
As such, the German troops, as you can imagine, seemed innumerable, majorly outnumbering the BEF and leaving them, of course, extremely vulnerable.
Now, they met with their enemies head on in the Belgian town of Mons.
This is about 35 miles or 56 kilometers south of Brussels.
And it's only just now dawning on me how many of our episodes actually seem, at least recently, to be in Belgium.
Yeah, yep.
