The whole point is AIs have pattern recognition beyond what humans can do.

So they can detect communication.

And one of the things that the open AI scientist said over the weekend was even if you air gap these AIs, if they were super intelligent, they could.

actually use the heat signature of the chips that they're running on to sort of use that as an invisible communication protocol, meaning that I vary the the heat of the chips as its own kind of invisible message or signal that you humans would not be able to detect, but that other AIs would be able to detect.
