I think there's a couple of factors, and it's not entirely clear to me which one necessarily is the most important one or if it's an exhaustiveness.
But I think for Trump, this was tricky from the outset because he now, once he went to the direction of diplomacy, he had to take a fight with Israelis and with his pro-Israeli donors, which are, of course, extremely important, and particularly Miriam Adelson.
For it to be worth it for him, he needed to have this constant assembly line of good news coming from the negotiations.
Diplomacy had to constantly produce something he could cling on to justify having to take this fight with Israelis and the pro-Israel donors.
And reality diplomacy with Iran or with any country that the U.S.
has been at odds with for 47 years and who the U.S.
just have attacked in the last twice in the last or actually by now three times in the last year was never going to be easy and never is going to be a straight line and never was going to be a straight assembly line of good news.
It was just not going to be the case.
But he doesn't seem to have the patience to be able to stick to one line unless he gets that positive feedback all the time.
So we've seen him go towards war and then making 180 towards diplomacy.
