One of the things I wanted to explore in this book, I would say the main part of this book,
is the idea that older women become invisible as they age.
And more than that, Koser as an immigrant woman has been invisible for much of her life and also very much underestimated.
People just kind of don't even really notice her.
You know, she dresses a certain way.
She speaks with an accent.
And I was super inspired by the immigrant women, older immigrant women in my life, like my mom and all the aunties that I knew.
And I wanted to kind of shed some light on them.
I think she lives up to the stereotype and she also kind of contradicts the stereotype.
She's like chaotic good.
You know, she, she's a little bit chaotic, but she, but she wants to use her powers for good.
And in this case, it's helping her daughter and finding the truth and,
I think Goser has a lot of compassion for other people because, you know, she's gone through tragedies in her life.
She's gone through challenges.
She's lost people.
And so I think that's kind of colored her perspective in a really good way.
It's funny you should say that you found the book hilarious because I think it's probably my most serious novel.
Like a lot of it deals with grief.
But I think a lot of people found it very amusing as well, which makes me really happy as a writer.
