It's important to note though that there can also be delay thrombosis formation that can go from up to 40 days after the acute event.
For these patients that may have more of a delay presentation, prolonging the treatment of corticosteroids might be important.
This patient, in retrospect, did not receive thrombolysis, which was the right thing for her because thrombolysis is not advised in cases of meningitis on top of a stroke because of the increased risk of intracerebral hemorrhage.
But I should say that the data on this increased risk is not very robust.
