You have to be better than your best friend.

You have to be better than everyone else around you.

Individualistic mentality.

You have to be the best.

Score themselves way higher than they actually perform.

And so it's not even about the kid, right?

Yep.

And actually those kids in, you know, neglect or abuse and they score themselves a little bit lower, they have such negative self-esteem because it's their fault.

Right?

So kids are this beautiful eye opening to the world of the adults that they have around them.

And yeah,

it quickly became my mechanism to actually connect with kids, right?

And identify how to support them in their growth.

And within two weeks, three weeks of them being in the classroom, I understood their motivational strategy, intrinsic versus extrinsic.

I understood how to work with them to fill those holes in their thinking.

I understood the negative thoughts that they constantly had in their head.

All without a conversation of, hey, what's home like for you?

Right?

I never had to ask that.

I got it with a very quick little exercise.
