And I never met a more brilliant guy.

And so, and then the next guy I met was Shelby Steele.

And the third guy I met was Scott Atlas.

And I said, these people are so much brighter than the entire Stanford faculty.

So I never had a doubt.

And then when people said, well, this person says you're crazy, or this person says you're a farmer hick, or this person says you belong back at Fresno State, I would say, Tom, Scott, what's the reality?

So I had a group of people who I admired and they were brilliant.

So I was very lucky, very, very lucky.

I had wonderful parents.

My parents... My grandfather lived on a farm for four generations, and he had three daughters.

And he mortgaged this little farm and sent them to Stanford University.

And so my mom, 1942, had two degrees from Stanford.

Then she went to law school there, and then she went back...

and became a mom with three kids and worked on the farm.

And then she became the first.

Yeah, so she was, I got a good, the good thing about that was because they had gone to college, the first generation,

They kept saying, don't be warped by college.

You have to work.

I came home the first semester.

I said, hey, I know.
