They're your job to raise up exactly what God gave you.
It's for that.
He gives you this past and this history because it's going to let you get down to a personal, real level with your kids that doesn't seem like it has been authored by someone who never made a mistake.
God is in the business of rewriting stories.
God has the eraser.
He can go through and rewrite that story for you, but you have to be able to share that with your kids because you don't want them to have this idea of what a perfect life is when that's not the reality of how you got to where you are.
You've got to hand that real you over.
And there's freedom in that.
Those ordinary parts of our lives that we think didn't count for anything or were just nasty, the regular ones, the imperfect ones, the ones that, I mean, they're so bad and things didn't go like we pictured.
This is not the stuff that's getting in the way of raising them.
This is the raising them.
So you have to give them all of your actual life.
And Paul says that that's the whole thing.
It's for him.
So it's for you, right?
And he dealt with each one of them one at a time and noticed that.
So this is the very next breath in chapter two, verse load.
Paul says he was with them like a father with his own children.
And he uses that phrase, each one of you.
He encouraged, comforted, and urged each one once at a time.
