No, we won't be telling them one way or the other.
We'll be advising them what the Department of Enterprise has forwarded to us via the Retail Forum, based upon some recommendations and some requests from the National Parks and Wildlife Service.
But we would believe ourselves
that this is actually, it's unreasonable for us as a request.
We don't believe that the majority of our customers act irresponsibly and banning and prohibitions of things
They're already in place.
There's already a ban in place in the national parks, in the national heritage sites, in the National Garden, the OPW Gardens.
It's for them to ensure that the bylaws are enforced, that compliance is rigorously obtained, and that fines are handed out if people are transgressing.
And it will become more and more, unfortunately, it will become more and more, unfortunately.
But all of those people who are planning celebrations this weekend, either for the Open Championship, the GAA, or for the World Cup, in their own homes, you'd be denying them their opportunities to enjoy as well.
It is the minority who are bringing it onto these races, and there are already legislation in place.
I don't believe that bans and prohibitions should be just willy-nilly.
It should be evidence-based.
It should be done as the last measure.
And certainly, we will ensure...
that people are reminded to extinguish them properly and the like.
But it really isn't for us.
By making people aware, I mean, there aren't all that many sold in every shop and you can just advise them in a nice fashion, don't forget to put that out properly.
It can burn for two hours afterwards.
