Study lead author Laura Cushing at UCLA says even if countries cut greenhouse gas emissions significantly, more than 3,000 toxic sites in the country could flood in the next 25 years.

Researchers say this data could improve disaster preparedness for communities that are more likely to live near these facilities, like households without a car or people who rent their homes.
