I still wanted to talk about ualienista.
I think ualienista is as important as Brascobas and as important as Don Cosmojo.
And it's usually looked down, disregarded.
It's a short story.
It's a novella.
It's slightly shorter.
And it's about the greatest doctor, the greatest physician in Brazil, Portugal, and of the two Spains.
And he's basically the Don Quixote of science who returns from Europe to the village of Itaguaí.
And he wants to find the cause of madness there.
and he dedicates himself to the study of madness.
He creates the greenhouse, the Casa Verde, where he starts to create a catalogue of illnesses, and in a very absurd way, he starts to put everybody in this Casa Verde when everybody rebels against him, and nothing happens to him.
He continues...
put in people in his mental asylum.
At the end of the story, he realizes there is no mad person in Atagüey.
I am the only mad person.
And then he locks himself up and dies alone.
And it's one of...
Machado's critique to the new vision of Brazil of this intellectuality, which is replacing religion by science, positivism, creating a new society, but reproducing the same mistakes, reproducing the same social relationships, the same structure.
And I think that he captures that zeitgeist of Brazil, but he also captures our way of dealing with things, which is sometimes we joke, we are very much about not dealing with things directly.
We kind of wit, we gossip about it, and then we move on.
