Most of what I do
Is applied philanthropic work.
Though I occasionally still publish papers and I occasionally st still stupidly build companies.
So I get confronted with problems in health and just generalized human welf welfare and education and workforce.
Since I'm usually paying for this, all I care about.
Is that it works.
And
In that sense, AI is the most astonishing tool humanity has ever developed, even before we get into agentic large language models or modern massive scale reinforcement learning systems.
Even back ten years ago, when I was coding things up by hand and working with, you know, hierarchical latent Dirichlet models or homebrewed early deep neural networks, they were still already doing truly amazing things.
They were doing them.
In these sort of blind ways.
He had to really put this stuff in context.
So
One thing I would note is that
Maybe whether we're talking about, you know, applied scientists or engineers or students or just everyday workers making use of AI.
is something from my experiment, and I think we'll probably have a chance to go back and and talk about the some of the specifics here, but there's a common line also used by
Sam Altman and by OpenAI and for that matter by Google and and Microsoft and many others, which is AI will do all the boring work.
So you can do the fun creative stuff.
So if you're a working scientist, maybe AI develops all your methodology, it does a lot of the paper writing, uh it helps you with your statistical analysis.
