I'm very honored that you invited me.
And uh congratulations with your novel, which is called Niki, which uh won uh lots of awards in Greece and Europe.
And now uh thank to thanks to Andri Sarenko, we have it in Ukrainian.
And I've read this novel, and I as I told you, I was really, really uh impressed.
But uh this is a novel that brings together human stories, individual stories, and the very difficult history of
Greece of the twentieth century.
And in this battle that you are describing, one of the very important part is basically the history of Greek communism and communist resistance to uh to fascism, to Nazism, to uh nationalism.
And uh uh Ukrainian story with with the communism and Greek story with the communism are different ones.
In which way do you see the this difference?
I I can tell you that one of the events you describe in your book that struck me is when uh the the major character of your book and the father of Niki destroys the family house as a kind of a sacrifice to the communist forces.
This is this is based on a real story.
Really?
And uh of course for us Ukrainians it's it's very horrible to uh to read because in our case
It's Russian bombs and Russian rockets who are destroying uh destroying our house.
Yeah.
Yes.
My question is I think you describe it as the the major expression of self-sacrifice and uh not exactly.
Absolutely.
Uh but how when when you look at this act today, because I think one of the major stories of your book is how uh a woman called Nikki is going away from this cult of self-sacrifice and finds her own life of her desires and not uh only of duty to to a big community.
