Getting back to my grandmother, you know, a year after that blackout, we were talking about that event, you know, just to sort of reminisce.
And she said, you know, like, you guys thought it was the end of the world, but that's already happened.
And you're only a few generations removed from that because our ancestors from Wasauksing, where we're from, originally inhabited the area that Parry Sound, Ontario now is, but they were forced out of there
as a result of like Canadian Confederation, the Indian Act, and so on, right?
So it was a world ending event.
And then everything that followed, right?
You know, the oppressive measures of the Indian Act, children being apprehended into residential schools, and so on and so on.
So I wanted to distill that conversation I had with my grandmother into that moment in Moon of the Crest of Snow.
