This was the club's official statement from the website.
Mark Skinner has departed his role as head coach of Manchester United Women by mutual agreement.
Appointed in 2021, Mark led United to four domestic cup finals in four seasons, winning the club's first major honour in women's football with the 2024 FA Cup.
During his tenure, United also finished runners-up in the 22-23 Women's Super League, securing qualification for the UEFA Women's Champions League for the first time in the club's history.
Last season, the team reached its first League Cup final and the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League.
Mark Leaves I mean made a significant contribution to the continued progress of Manchester United women the club places on record it's sincere thanks for his professionalism commitment and dedication throughout his time at United and wishes him every success in the future yeah it's it's been brewing really I mean even you might say go back as far as three years there's been speculation that he's been frustrated with the
financial situation that is impacting the women's team so desperately it's impacted their ability to bring in players to keep players to build a significant team and yeah it was always a matter of when and not if he was never going to stay like permanently because of the conditions there at the club and
And it's surprising that it lasted as long as it did.
A little bit surprising that they've done it this close.
I suppose women's season starts a little bit later, but it still seems a little bit late in the summer to be making such changes.
speculation is that Eva Olid is going to be announced as the women's manager this will happen imminently and it could happen today apparently everyone at the club has already been informed about this all the women's team and everything like that Eva was Hearts manager for the last five years she's Spanish descent she's just won the Scottish Premier League with Hearts as well so a really big massive achievement there
and left by mutual consent at the end of last season.
In fact, the announcement was made before she'd even won the title.
So, you know, I have often joked or made a reference about the women's side.
Do they take any of the men's identity or are they forging their own identity?
Well, you know, a manager who broke the domination of the old firm, it's not quite the same, is it?
But who's come down from north of the border?
That can't be a bad example to follow, can it?
But, yeah, obviously, there's a lot of...
Negative, controversial speculation around the club about Mark's departure and about how seriously that means that United are treating the women's team.
