So a bunch of the men who had been part of this beat show up and when they see the dead tiger they immediately begin shouting that they want to hack her to bits with their machetes and essentially like tear her apart with their own hands.

This was the first man eater that Corbett would ever kill, and it establishes him as something of a legend, uh and as someone the local governments would call when there was a big cat or maybe a bear or a wolf or something that was killing people, and we know from his other stories that he probably became the most successful and accomplished hunter of man eaters that the world has ever known.
