the movers were coming to back the household and moving the family to a new job in Newfoundland.
So that posting got delayed by a couple of weeks, but you're trying to deal with that and at the same time everybody, at least in Canada and many other countries, were trying to get a piece of us to file a news report.
Something like that, yeah.
But it's the soldier I remember.
They probably dropped him with that.
They probably saw the piece of debris.
11 years from 67 to 78.
And then in every job that I took since then, the North was always a part of my work, whatever it was.
I left CBC after 25 years and became chairman of an agency called the Canadian Polar Commission, which obviously was a commission to give the government
some recommendations and direction on research matters.
And then following that, I was the Executive Director for the National Inuit Organization.
Again, that was totally focused on the North.
And since then, of course, I'd always found other reasons to go back.
And there's rarely been a year, maybe there's not been a year,
that I had not been to the North at least once, to one location or another ever since.
Wow.
Well, I hope it will just simply inform people, not only about the North, because I say about one-third of the book is set in the North, but it will inform people more about our country.
I deal with some national tragedies through the 70s and 80s, like...
10,000 caribou ground in a river in northern Quebec after the water levels rate was raised, perhaps because Hydro-Quebec released too much water from one of the dams.
I deal with the tragedy of the Ocean Ranger oil rig in Newfoundland that I covered where 84 people died in a horrific storm in February.
