Well, it gave everybody who came into contact with that book permission to think about this in a new way.
And some of them, a lot of them, most of them didn't come out of the closet and that's fine.
I mean, why should they?
In fact, there's a lot of reasons why they shouldn't, even now.
So that was amazing to me.
When I put the book out, I thought it would be sort of a one-off.
I was a fiction writer and
Ann said to me after I told her about it, which was a long time, because I initially assumed I was insane or had a brain tumor or something.
I mean, this was not on the top of my list as even a possibility.
It was way past...
my childhood fascination with flying saucers and stuff.
Spaceman is what we call them.
Although, uh, in that book now sort of forgotten called report on communion, the, uh, uh, who, a guy, this author, uh, went around basically interviewing everybody I talked about in the book and everybody he could find who knew me in those days in San Antonio.
And, uh,
I used to, my neighbors said to him that I would tell them that I was being taken by spacemen as a child.
And of course, everyone thought it was just some childish prank, some childish nonsense and ignored it.
But I think it actually happened now.
