And I don't think he wants to be, as I mentioned, this team's fatal flaw all year was five on five scoring.
And let me ask you guys a question.
Since December 11th, Larkin's,
42 games since December 11th.
How many five-on-five goals do you think he's scored?
Five?
One.
He has scored one five-on-five goal over that stretch, which is as many in that stretch as Michael Rasmussen, which is fewer in that stretch than Luke Landenning.
And he's scored some big goals for this team this year.
But the truth of the matter is that they need to find another difference-making center that
on the trade market this offseason.
And they should make, in my opinion, every player on the roster available in those trade conversations other than Maritz Seider.
And if you're keeping Larkin, you have to commit to trying to win over the final three to four years of his prime.
And the only way that's going to happen is
is if you can bolster the center position either ahead of him or just behind him with someone like, say, Robert Thomas, who the Lynx tried to acquire at the deadline, maybe even Vincent Trocek.
Because while like three, four years ago, when Dylan first signed his extension, you could reasonably assume that as his ceiling rose, the team's ceiling would rise.
He's entering year 11.
He turns 30 this offseason.
Like, there isn't much room, if any, for him to keep growing.
So he's maxed out, and he alone isn't a suitable number one center for a playoff caliber, championship caliber team.
