There's a lot in it that's very funny about academia without it being a campus novel.
The subtext is academia, why we hate it.
It's a great theme.

We have the sense that they're very sympathetic personally, but they're also working in an environment that is not as it was in some way, that is dysfunctional and where it's very, very difficult for them to do the job that they're supposed to be doing, which is simply to teach.
And in a way,
the thing that works most successfully academically is this outlandish experiment.
Yeah.
Which is off the curriculum.
And completely unethical.
It should not be done.
Potentially very, very dangerous.
Everyone should have lost their jobs.
