I think James picked up on a really valid point there, Megan.
The individuals that either are the legitimate kidnappers or are the fanboys or fangirls of kidnapping and are seeking to exploit it in some shape or form by putting in bogus ransom demands.
They're viewing, they're scouring of the media, even potentially watching us and watching your dear self, obviously, covering this and seeing the various different analysts and pundits that are former agency or former bureau or former my world, who will actually sort of give their thoughts and ideas of what's going on.
They'll be watching all of that, avidly.
And that will have a lot of bearing on how their OPSEC is.
And inevitably, the Bureau, who's been sort of front and center on this, will be very guarded about their information, which is why I'm very cautious about what Mr. Levin has been saying, because I think it's him speculating on minimal information that he's been given.

And I don't think we want to do a DIY on how to kidnap someone on your show.
But if they've used an email account, there are ways to reply to that email account to actually put a bit of script behind it.
You then grab an IP address.
and get past their VPN.
But I mean, there are various different ways, like James said, you can either use remote locations.
There are various different types of Internet email service online that you that will literally self-destruct after five minutes.
Again, there are so many variables without knowing the details, it's difficult to say whether the FBI would have something to potentially follow up on.

One of the things that I would be doing right now, Megan, and I've done this before when we lost contact with kidnappers on a particular case in Latin America, was that we actually did a distributed missing persons notification in the area that we believed the hostage was being held.
Now, Sonora is big, but it's not that big.
