We just saw interest rates are going up and duration is the interest rate length in the fixed income market.
So we sort of said, right, we need to be one year max or lower in our fixed income exposure.
Well, effectively, that's what we did.
As I said, we had a maximum exposure of one year.
We brought bonds in, I think it was in October 2022.
We had to sell about March 23.
Our scenario didn't play out well enough.
Clients made money, but I can tell you they hated the exposure.
Australians don't like bonds as well.
That's the other thing.
Yeah, you're not being unfair.
It's just, yeah, we don't, yeah, it's not something we really look at, yeah.
Yeah, but we take that more lower duration.
When you can get, you know, something, a coupon effectively, and it's more at the secure end and you're getting 5% or 6% versus, you know, what you're exposed to in bonds, we'd prefer to take that coupon, yeah, rather than the risk, yeah.
So that's the staggered approach to deposits.
So he's right, yeah.
