So this was debated at Congress, and this is largely because a lot of the counties who would have faced off with the Laurie Mara last year had brought motions up and some of the teams that met them in the record this year as well.
And it was kind of a slight kicking down the can, as I recall, was what ended up happening on the floor on the day.
So the argument was that if New York were to get promoted, they would commit to playing group stages for the next three seasons, was the talk.
So obviously then they waited to see how the championship would play out.
So Roscommon are now sitting in the situation where they were relegated from the Christie ring, but not sure just yet if they are actually going to drop down and if New York are going to come up.
But Murph had a good idea earlier when we were kind of chatting about this before we came on, which is that what you could do here potentially is have New York in the Christie ring, get them 100% committed to playing in it.
But give the opportunity for them to play some home games and for some of the teams in the Christie Ring, Murph, to go over and play in New York.
And maybe that might rely on some GPA funding or some GA funding in order for it to happen.
But wouldn't that be a great incentive for some of the teams in the Christie Ring to have a trip abroad next year?
It's one per season, yeah.
I'd imagine so.
They spent nearly two decades outside of Championship Hurling and a large part of that was not being able to come over to Ireland to play and so on.
And I think maybe there's an argument, and again, I think Johnny Glynn is on the board of New York GA at the moment as well.
If they had to be, say, in Ireland for a month, a month plus for the Christie ring next year,
maybe they'll just turn around and say that's not a possibility for them, because lads can't come over for that length of time.
Yeah, they get a grant because, you see, basically they're on a rotation as to which team goes.
That's being renegotiated by Connacht Council to see if New York are going to stay in.
But all feeling seems to be they will because the counties love going over for a trip there.
Well, if you... We're about to get Sophie's choices.
Esme, would you boot New York out of the championship or what would you do?
