I think what's interesting as an observer is that one of the joys of Heartstopper has been that the audience and the readers have all found, I suppose, the character that they most closely relate to.
And then to sort of see somebody who is like them or sort of that they can sort of attach themselves to has been such a huge part, I suppose, of the journey, you know, become part of that community.
These books have taken us to lots of different places, literally, but also emotionally.
And I'm often interested when I speak to authors about when they're writing emotionally tough bits, whether it has a sort of impact on them as the writer.
And Zuzia asked, which book was the most difficult to do emotionally?
The next question comes from Arlo X Saunders, who wanted to know, what have you discovered about yourself writing Heartstopper?
Yeah.
The life of a writer, of course, can be very solitary.
You're sitting there working away and there will be ups and downs as part of that.
And Kenneth Books asked, what's been your hardest moment as an author and your proudest moment?
So we can have both.
That's a very lovely answer.
And I think, because people are often told not to be prideful, but I think it's important that you have those moments.
And as you say, because you had done all that work yourself, to hold that cup in your hand must have been incredible.
You mentioned when you were talking about book four, quite a tough book to write because of the mental health journey that Charlie's going on.
And there are these big topics that you're dealing with and there is a lot of talk around Heartstop around, I suppose, the representation that people see in
In particular, I'm thinking of some of the mental health stuff for Charlie.
So like writing about eating disorders, anxiety, self-harm.
But you're also looking at representation of things like aromanticism, asexualism, things like that.
When you're writing about those big topics...
