Farming is no different. matched

You know, a lot of these conversations with bankers have already happened. matched

These farmers have gone into the bank and they said, this is what I need for the next year in order to put out 500 acres of soybeans and 600 acres of corn. matched

And now they're going to have to go back to those bankers and say, there's a 25 percent markup across the board on everything that I need in order to make this crop work. matched

And then on the other end, they've got to slow down. matched

You got it. matched

So the way this relationship works between, say, a row crop farmer and a banker is that that row crop farmer goes into their banker and they say, this is the amount of money that I need to borrow and finance. matched

to put my crop in the ground and to give it all of the treatments that it needs to get to harvest time later in the year they've had those conversations now okay they've borrowed the amount of money that they need they've got their contracts lined up in order to buy seed fertilizer pesticides fungicides all of the other things that they need these tariffs take effect and now just imagine i'm just going to throw any number out here because it gets the point across matched

You throw out that that that fertilizer that was going to cost a dollar now cost a dollar twenty five. matched

So you've got to go back to your banker and you've got to say, I need to mark up the amount of money that I borrowed to put this crop in the ground and take it all the way through to harvest. matched

I've got to mark that up or get this much more money in order to do that. matched

Now, this is the key point that I'm trying to get across. matched

You're going to somebody else and asking for money to borrow on a crop that you can't say with 100% certainty at harvest time you're going to be able to sell. matched

OK. matched

And you're telling them, unlike in the past, when if I couldn't sell that crop, I could get subsidies and I'd be able to pay you back that way. matched

Now you've got to tell them. matched

And oh, by the way, Project 2025, which is being implemented to the letter right now. matched

eliminates subsidies, eliminates crop insurance, and you've got a whole lot of Democratic politicians that are saying, you voted for this, so maybe you deserve whatever you get. matched

That's an impossible environment to run a business in. matched

Forget about calling it farming and ranching. matched
