So this battle over reality and how we define it is...

far deeper than just this question of, oh, it sucks up to me or it's the ultimate yes man.

Ultimately, what an LLM, if you strip it down to its base, it is a next token prediction.

It's a fancy autocomplete, a highly complex autocomplete that is looking for the next word in succession.

However,

It also has a layer of values-based layer over top of that and a political layer over top of that.

And so you can dial that up to be woke as you want, woke AI as you want, or you can have it to be a more objective arbiter of facts.

And I think this is the real question for educators.

I taught for many years at a small little rural college.

These are young people that had a lot of dreams, but they didn't have a lot of money.

I think AI tutors...

if they are pedagogically sound and non-woke, can be an enormous benefit for low-income folks or people that just don't have access.

On the other side, if those are woke AI, you're going to get an indoctrination machine.

They absolutely can, and there have been studies that show it is a master manipulator when you remove those guardrails.
