Yeah, I mean I think one of the important broad things to remember is that this is matched

no longer about primarily going after people who entered the country illegally. matched

The Trump administration has taken a very broad approach. matched

um to tackling different corners of the immigration system. matched

Uh and so that has then resulted in people who came to the country through legal means like temporary protected status, for example, losing that status. matched

You know, at huge numbers. matched

There uh are people who came on legal visas to work and study in the US and lost those legal permissions, either because they were revoked or because the processing times matched

Have just been so slow. matched

that people have kind of waited out and then ended up without status. matched

Um, you know, there's a wide range of people that have been affected and that has really increased the scope of what this administration has been able to do. matched

So since Trump has come into office, crossings at the US southern border with Mexico have been greatly reduced. matched

So just one example of this is in July about 12,000 people crossed the border, um, as opposed to uh over a hundred thousand in twenty twenty-four that same month. matched

So that's just one example. matched

We've also seen other numbers increase. matched

Um so the rate matched

rate of people who are in immigration detention uh is currently at some of the highest levels that it's ever been. matched

That has stayed pretty steady at around sixty thousand the last two months, July and August. matched

DHS has announced that uh in those two months each, about fifty thousand people have been arrested. matched
