So you know DHS has issued statement to reporters um saying that there will be an announcement made at quote matched

an appropriate time. matched

But, you know, the deadline is today for people's work permits to expire. matched

That's a hundred and seventy thousand people with connections to US citizen businesses, to spouses, to kids that matched

for for weeks leading up to this date specifically, have not known if they are gonna be able to continue working and living in this country. matched

Yeah, so immigration court, as I've said on this pod before, uh it it lives within the Justice Department. matched

And that is relevant because, you know, that means it's not a part of the judiciary branch of government, technically is under direction the attorney general, therefore the president. matched

Um an immigration court is where an immigrant who is in the country without legal status might be essentially summoned to appear to kind of make the case. matched

why they should not be deported. matched

Um and in immigration court, most people don't have attorneys, some people do. matched

There's always a prosecutor represented by matched

immigration and customs enforcement lawyer, uh, and then there's an immigration judge that ultimately will make the decision on if someone should be removed or not. matched

Now, I've been tracking a lot of things when it comes to the reshaping of immigration courts under the Trump administration, but I think last week I got a really weird tip. matched

And that weird tip uh came from a few attorneys in the Washington DC area, so Maryland and Virginia, and they told me that matched

they had some people come to their offices, um, you know, with these notices to appear, but then the notices to appear told them to go to in-person hearings at locations that are not immigration courts. matched

So one is the actually the headquarters for the Executive Office for Immigration Review, um, which is the agency that does immigration courts in Falls Church, Virginia. matched

But typically that building doesn't do in person, like courtroom style hearings. matched

And the second one is uh actually the headquarters for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. matched
