And uh of course, you know, it speeds up computation, all that stuff goes with go goes without saying.
But something that's perhaps not so emphasized and appreciated, it's the fact that there there are actually fundamental and major results in in mathematics that could no longer have been done without the help of the computer.
And so this, you know, there's famous examples.
Even back in 1976, this is the famous Upau Hakkenkock proof of the four-color theorem.
You know, that every map it only takes four uh every map in a plane only takes uh f uh uh four colors to completely color it with no neighbors.
And this is a problem, this is a problem that was posed, I think probably by by Euler, right?
And this was finally settled by reducing this whole topology problem.
problem to thousands of cases and then then they ran it through a computer and checked it case by case.
So and then other major things like you know the Kepler conjecture, which is you know that that stacking um balls, uh identical balls, the best way to to stack it is what you see in the supermarket, you know, in this hexagonal
thing.
And this was con conjectured by Kepler, but to prove that this is actually the best way to do it, uh, was settled in in nineteen ninety-eight again by huge computer check.
And the the full acceptance by the math community was only as late as twenty seventeen when proof copilots actually went through House's construction and then made this into into proof.
Yes.
But wasn't
a recent breakthrough in the generalized Kepler conjecture?
Abs uh absolutely.
So this is what Marina Vyatsovska got the Fields Medal for, where she so the Kepler conjecture is in three dimensions.
We're you know our our world.
Uh Vyatsovska showed uh in in dimensions um eight, sixteen, and twenty-four with the best possible Packinar.
And she gave a beautiful proof of of that fact.
