So like,
Get somebody in.
Yeah, you don't want a dictator.
You want somebody in who can delegate.
But again, if I'm going to be judged on moves, performance, how my team does, I want it to be my team.
I want it to be the move that I make, that I'm comfortable with, the players I bring in.
Otherwise, you're just a puppet.
Yeah, but if they knew he was leaving, why are you trying to convince, like, if they were so sure he was leaving a year ago, like, why are you not prepping this already a year ago instead of trying to make the playoffs, trying to add these pieces, trying to giving up assets when you're in this situation anyways?
I feel like it is probably a little bit counterproductive trying to bring in guys, retaining guys,
in the hopes that you're trying to convince him to stay, if you, in quotation here, knew he was leaving anyways.

this team is done.
There's no question about that.
He was what was keeping this alive.
He was the player that you could sell to UFAs, to other players that like, you know what, you're going to play with arguably the best defenseman in the league.
As long as he is here, this team is trending in a certain direction.
He's gone now.
Everybody can see what's playing out and it's a lot harder to retain, keep and draw in until you get another asset like that.
We're finally where we need to be now.
We're finally here where it looks and sounds like everybody is saying we're going to try to rebuild.
