How I got into cinematography?
How I got into cinematography was so Ted Clark, our high school water polo coach, I was the TA for him senior year and I was literally trying to figure out what to study in college.
Because growing up in Orange County, I knew I had to find a job.
College was a place where you could have a career.
So I just remember thinking, oh, Chapman University is down the street and they have a film program.
And I thought, oh, film might be a fun thing to do.
Still isn't.
No, no, I am now.
I love film.
Oh, shit.
I mean, I loved movies just to go and watch with my friends.
Sure, sure.
I mean, I'll tell you how culturally weird, strange I was because I was, you know, growing up Japanese that I remember like people say, oh, they watch Star Wars and their life changed and stuff like that.
They watched some film.
I remember the first time I saw Return of the Jedi was on TV, on CBS.
And you could, you know, I don't know if you remember this, you could record, right?
