This is Ella Reid.

She's a sociologist at Monash University where she's researching maternal regret.

There's been hardly any research done on this subject, especially in Australia.

But that doesn't mean it's not very real.

Ella's research also hasn't been published yet, but she can share what she's found.

As part of her research, Ella interviewed a small sample size of women.

They were often scared to share their stories, and for most of them, Ella was the first person they'd spoken to about it.

Some women were dealing with obvious hardships like violent partners and financial stress, but then there were women with seemingly ordinary lives who were looking around and thinking, this is not what I signed up for.

As part of her research, Ella also had to define what motherhood regret actually is and what it isn't.
