And Prudence says recently they've been finding new ways to shift the dial, putting our hard-fought reproductive rights at risk.
When you talk about misinformation and particularly on social media, what kind of misinformation are you talking about?
Prudence says that under Australian law we have a compassionate approach to abortion, which means abortion is allowed in the second and third trimesters.
But only in exceptional circumstances.
And at least two doctors must consult with the patient and agree for an abortion to be carried out.
And so this allows
Right, as they shouldn't, 'cause they're not doctors.
They're not doctors, they don't have medical expertise.
There's something very particularly frustrating about this bit of disinformation because as somebody who's carried four pregnancies to term and given birth, there is no way that anybody would voluntarily keep a pregnancy until late term to decide then to terminate it.
This mum had to decide whether she would give birth to a child that would have an extremely short and painful life or to end the pregnancy.
And thanks to Australia's compassionate laws, she had the opportunity to make the decision with her doctors.
As we put together this show, we wanted to hear your experiences of seeking and getting an abortion.
Our inbox was flooded with emails from women wanting to share their stories.
One of those women was Nora.
She and her partner wanted kids, but her first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage.
Soon after, she fell pregnant again.

Doctors told Nora the deformity was incredibly rare and it was just bad luck.
They suggested trying again and again Nora fell pregnant almost immediately.
They went back to the same specialist at twelve weeks for their scan.
