And many of them were really at their lowest ebb.

And so he never, he was not a showy man.
You know, he was extremely frugal.
He would go every Saturday morning to Flemington markets.
Everyone would scream, doctor, come and get my watermelon, come and get... He would always try and make sure that he was a part of the people.
He had no desire for bells and whistles.
You know, he drove a Holden Statesman.
It was his greatest joy.
And he was very much...
grounded in community and connection.
And so I think my idea of privilege was more so that I was safe and things were going to be okay.
There was this optimism that was handed down to me.
But really, I had a great understanding of the fact that
so many didn't have this and you should try and help others in need.
Yeah.
All four of my grandparents were Holocaust survivors and some came out to Australia as orphans.
