So, you know, us as pitchers, we live...

by a few fundamental rules, but me in particular, it's like get a guy out in three pitches or less.

You know, that gives me the best opportunity to stay in the game as long as possible.

In some teams, that's really hard to do, too.

For me personally, I think it was kind of like the first time around.

I went in with zero expectations.

I didn't look towards the future and put any care in that.

I'm a pretty present-day thinker.

Whatever's going to happen is going to happen.

I'm going to try and put myself in the best position possible for success, but

It was kind of an unknown this off season coming off back surgery.

I hadn't gotten it mid-August and, you know, end of the season comes and it was kind of like,

Where do I go from here?

Thankfully, it wasn't a terrible rehab process.

First six weeks sucked, but then you do pretty much a six-week core program and you have a normal offseason.

So I wasn't necessarily chasing milestones at all this offseason.

It was more so getting ready for the next season, which was refreshing.

At the same time, I didn't know where I was going to land.

I knew the Orioles had expressed interest and other teams had expressed interest too, but I was more focused on just being healthy, being able to find an opportunity, a good landing spot.

Ultimately, it was the place that I wanted to be.
