The top of the farm system, everyone wanted Alvarez in a trade.

Everyone wanted Beatty in a trade.

Those are the guys that, in hindsight, maybe should have moved for some players, not for rentals, but for something else.

And I viewed farm systems similar to what I learned from watching Dave Dombrowski work, which is you identify one or two guys that you think will be impact players when they come to the big leagues for you.

And then everyone else is fair game.

And that was kind of how I was looking at it.

And Alvarez for me, Alvarez was the only one I felt really good about.

Obviously he hasn't been the star that we hoped he'd be, but he's been pretty solid with the bat overall, just hurt all the time.

And then the other players haven't really panned out, but you look at that and it's like, well, obviously the clear best player in the farm system at the time is now Pekra Armstrong.

And I think if, if, you know,

people were placing bets at the time, there would have been very few placed on, on him being that guy.

So, and sometimes it works out oftentimes, like I said, like if we, if, if, if we didn't feel like, um, if we move man Allen instead, you know, no one would be talking about it.

And that's just the unfortunate nature.

It's rare that you actually get burned.

those types of deals.

So, uh, yeah, we, that was a bad longterm deal.

I think, you know, you always have every year you have the opportunity to add more talent.

They have a couple of really good outfielders now that are in the big leagues already at a young age.

Um, so, you know, there's other ways to, to kind of build things out, but yeah, they, they, a lot that we traded away a guy that in my estimate tripled his value in one year, which is impressive and not that common.
