And I really think it is because we are grossly overexposed to negative information and grossly underexposed to positive information.
And here's my message, especially to young parents, but to anyone who is responsible for another human.
You don't have to like what I say.
You don't have to like me and you can call me a shill or an idiot.
But if you are responsible for another person on this earth, if you are a steward for the future that someone else in your charge will inherit, then I think you have a moral obligation to describe the ways in which you are going to make the world a better place.
And you don't have to do it for me.
And you actually don't even have to do it for yourself.
You have to do it for them.
You have to go to your dining room tables and you have to talk about a better world and you have to talk about what you're going to do to make it better.
And you have to go to your companies and you have to do the same thing.
And you got to do it, especially when it's unpopular or when it's hard.
Because if you don't, who's gonna?
And the reality is it is you and me and everyone else who has a say in the future that we build.
It is not the tech companies and it is not the tools.
collectively, we are actually going to determine what happens next.
And the extent to which we view optimism as a moral obligation and a missing ingredient is the extent to which we can actually imagine a world that we will ultimately build.
There is incredible negativity towards AI.
Housing, healthcare and education have gotten 280% more expensive over the last 30 years.
These three things are not technological failures.
They're expensive because of policy failures.
