And then that amount, I'm going to use another really specific number, went up to $338.60 this year.

It's not and this is actually, I mean, this is a perfect segue.
This is one of the things that some of the students who had already accessed this scheme had complained about or I guess just pointed to, the fact that you can't get any other income if you're working full-time or it's difficult to and $330 a week if you're working at a full-time rate is very minimal.
Yeah, that's pre-tax.
So we asked TDA's audience to tell us a bit about what it's been like if you are one of those students who can access it, which again, there are so many who haven't been able to.
So these are the people who are considered the lucky ones, I guess, in inverted commas.
Here is Jemima, who is a nursing student talking about her experience accessing these paid practical placements.

And again, I mean, the purpose of this podcast today is to talk about the fact that the number of people and the number of students who can actually access this funding in the first place has been expanded.
But I did think that it was an interesting place to start the discussion, which is... 300 bucks for a 40-hour workweek.
Yeah, like those who are accessing it already are pointing to the fact that perhaps it's not even touching the surface of what is needed and the financial realities that they are facing as students working these incredible hours for, as we heard from Jemima, sometimes $8 an hour.
Well, I mean, if the starting point is zero dollars, it is an improvement on that.
And for until now or until rather last year, July last year,
that you were getting compensated nothing for this.
It was seen, you know, just as I think society has moved on from the idea of unpaid internships and that that was all the rage when we were at uni.
I don't think that flies necessarily in the way that it did.
There you go.
And I think that like societally we are moving forward to a place where you cannot expect...
It sounds ridiculous to have to say out loud, but you cannot expect free labour.
