But I think there is still a general consensus

amongst voters that adhering to our net zero targets is a good thing and yes there needs to be a sort of just and orderly transition that looks at how workers are included you know there aren't mass job losses and to make sure that costs aren't passed on to consumers and households are already struggling but you know this kind of blanket approach of just trying to scrap net zero targets completely or moving away from our our commitments to help dealing with the climate change crisis you

You know, that was a fringe view that is becoming more and more mainstream, particularly on the political right.

I just cannot believe this.

This is happening.

You're 100% right.

And this is, you know, this is populism.

This is what populism is and does in many ways.

It provides easy answers that basically tell the public, you know, none of this has anything to do with you.

It's not your fault.

It's all the establishment and the establishment have made up climate change and they've made up these net zero targets and you're going to get stung with them and we have to resist that and we have to just go along and we have to, you know...

we have to reject it is what it is that they're telling us.

And it will all be fine in the end.

If you just listen to me, because I've got all the answers and they're really easy and they're really simple and the establishment aren't telling the truth.

And it's just in this age where, you know, we have everyone's on social media and truth, truth is less important than the speed of things.

And, you know,

People are frustrated with how politics has not changed their lives for the better in many cases.

It's very easy to believe those easy answers.

But I do think on this particular issue, we know that broad public support is still there.

I think reform and the Tories are trying very hard to erode it.
