And I really worry about what that is doing to political discourse, that coarsening of political discourse, making it okay with saying hateful, untrue, misinformed things.

In general, it not only bullies out underrepresented minorities, but it changes the pace and the venom of our discourse.

Yeah.

And, you know, it's it's worth saying that Nigel Farage, of course, is, as we know, he is attacked and abused, much like many politicians.

You know, there's there's quite highly there's quite high profile cases of him being harassed in public.

And any attack on any sitting or former politician is clearly an attack on our democracy.

And I think we need to be clear about that.

There was an interesting report earlier this week.

I think the iPaper had the scoop originally that

Nigel Farage, despite having talked a lot recently about his need for security, saying he's the most attacked politician, he actually turned down taxpayer-funded security, which include a trained driver, a car and a bodyguard last year because he deemed it to be inadequate.

This is the same level of security that Kemi Badenoch would receive, the same level of security that cabinet ministers would receive.

He said, no thanks, it's not enough and refused it.

Now, he has a right to think that's inadequate, but you have to ask,

What's more important to Nigel Farage?

Is it getting security so he can keep himself and his family safe?

Or is it turning down that security and continuing to propagate this line that he is unusually attacked by other people?

And I think that does raise questions about the seriousness of what he's saying.

Yes, we know that he is under attack, but why would he turn down security that is offered to him?
