It really is a ecological disaster.

And, you know, that sort of thing is very difficult to recover from.

And it's such a beautiful part of our country.

you know as I say it's only going to get worse and worse and it just doesn't feel like we are prepared for it and of course because we also have cold winters in this country we're far more prepared for that I think there's still a sort of cultural disconnect there where we don't think we're a country that experiences really hot weather so we don't plan for it and every time we have a heat wave we sort of write it off as a as a freak weather thing but you know we're hearing now that

um dr claire barnes from imperial college london said heat waves are the most dangerous kind of extreme weather and the world health organization has recommended that authorities in europe plan for extreme heat in the same way that they do for winter flu i mean it sounds like a brilliant idea but we're already not very good in this country at preparing for winter flu every year we hear um it's going to be the worst year for winter flu yeah and and hospitals are already really struggling with uh

How do we make sure that this is a priority so it doesn't catch us out every year?

Well, just this week, Kemi Badenoch sent out a memorandum to her party basically saying that anyone who wants to be a conservative candidate at the next election will have to support getting rid of net zero targets.
