A Runner’s Life

#102 - Stephen Gnoza on the quirks and insights from the Serious Runner

23 Aug 2021

Description

In episode 102, I speak with Stephen Gnoza who is a professional video producer and amateur runner (marathon best of 2:55) currently based out of Boulder, Colorado. After a decade of working in corporate video, Stephen has begun to explore more creative video projects.  One of his YouTube series, Serious Runner, caught my attention. All great comedy is a reflection of life, and I could see myself doing some of the things, that The Serious Runner character does in the videos. The series features cameos from elite runner Sage Canaday which definitely adds an extra bit of realism to  proceedings.  The Serious Runner videos provide a glimpse at common quirks and social media habits of very passionate amateur runners, probably things most runners are guilty of! Myself included. The humour is predicated on how the character reacts to things, and it is not based on any judgement on others. Stephen is also a partner in MUT Running, a media company focused on providing media coverage to sub-ultra trail races.  When not running, Stephen dabbles in web development and is an aspiring screenwriter. Whilst we cover some light hearted topics, we also cover some serious topics, no pun intended. But beneath the comedy the character of The Serious Runner holds a mirror of self reflection back at ourselves. You can follow him on Instagram or YouTube. ————————————————————— This episode is supported by Tracksmith, a brand which actively represents and supports the development of a runner’s life in the running community. Some of my favourite items of training kit includes the track and field cap and the session speed shorts from the Session Collection which are both ideal for everyday training. ————————————————————— Thank you to my patreons your help pays for editing, equipment and much more.
