Catherine Wolfe and Niall Guinan, associates in the Arthur Cox Insurance and Reinsurance team, discuss recent developments in relation to the impact of Brexit on the insurance sector in Ireland. As listeners will be aware, after leaving the EU on 31 January 2020 the UK entered into the transition period, which from a regulatory perspective maintained the status quo until 31 December 2020. At 11pm on 31 December the UK exited the post-Brexit transition period and entered into a new trade agreement with the EU.
